On January 7-30, Lviv hosted the Ukrainian Championship for young people (aged 18 and 20) in sport and combat sambo. The championship aims to select athletes for the national team, which will take part in the European Championship in Estonia in April.
Yana Voloshyniuk, a first-year student majoring in Physical Culture and Sports at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, was a member of the national team of Ivano-Frankivsk region.
It is gratifying to note that our student-athlete won a gold medal in the weight category up to 54 kg and she became a member of the Ukrainian national team, which will participate in the European Championship in Estonia in April. Our student was trained for the competition by Yevhen Bodnaruk, the honored coach of Ukraine, senior coach of the national sambo team of Ukraine; Andrii Mykytyn, the senior coach of the youth national team of Ukraine in sambo; Serhii Kuryliuk, a trainer-psychologist, the associate professor of the Faculty of physical culture and sports theory and methods (Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University).
